SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A San Rafael man was arrested in the hit-and-run death of a person riding a motorized scooter in San Francisco, according to the police department.
Daniel Llama, 39, was booked at the San Francisco County Jail on suspicion of hit and run collision resulting in death and suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
SFPD said officers responded on Oct. 24 near Franklin and Pine streets, at approximately 5:08 a.m., for a vehicle collision involving injuries. A male victim was located at the scene and taken to a local hospital for life threatening injuries, where he later died.
“The investigation determined that a vehicle struck the victim and fled the scene without rendering aid to the injured victim. The suspect and the vehicle could not be located during the initial investigation by the responding officers who searched the area,” said police in a news release.
SFPD said its Traffic Collision Investigation Unit soon identified and located Llama’s car in San Rafael. He was taken into custody without incident Thursday, and his vehicle was seized and towed by investigators.
Despite an arrest, this remains an active case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411, starting the message with “SFPD.”
